Halloweed: Your Checklist for a Weed-Themed Halloween Party

Halloween isn’t just for kids. Everyone loves an excuse to dress up and try on a new personality for a night. Not to mention all the horror movies, spooky decor, and abundance of sweet treats everywhere. Since weed is perfectly legal (in most states), why not throw a weed-themed Halloween party? Although every day is a good day to get high, this theatrical holiday makes it even more exciting. We’ve got tips and tricks for how to make this Halloween the party of the year.

Tips for Hosting a Halloweed Party

Halloween is a whole theme on its own. It’s a time of year when the sun sets earlier, the black cats are spookier, and you are really starting to wonder if you saw a vampire while passing by the cemetery last night. It’s all in good spirits, and on All Hallows' Eve, kick back and relax with the mellow vibes of marijuana. Here are some tips on how to throw a weed-themed Halloween party that everyone will want to attend.

Costumes

Naturally, the best part about Halloween is the costumes. This is the best way to show your love of the bud with cannabis costumes that will give everyone a case of giggles. Make sure to tell all of your guests that costumes are encouraged. Here are some of our tip ideas:

  • Medical marijuana doctor or 420 nurse
  • Stoner superhero
  • Blunt or joint costume
  • Canna-chef
  • Strain theme costume (think girl scout cookies)
  • The Zig Zag guy

Another fun idea is to go with popular stoner movie characters like Spicoli, The Dude, Bluntman, Chronic, Cheech, Chong, or literally anyone from Half Baked.

Decorations

Don’t skimp on the decor. Stick with classic Halloween goodies like fake spider webs, skulls, skeletons, pumpkins, and anything dark and creepy. Pot leaves make a perfect addition to the theme, and there are many ways to incorporate them into your weed-themed bash.

Invest in a string or two of light-up pot leaves and hang them over the drink table. You’ll use these over and over for all your weed-themed parties, so you might as well stock up now. For the food and drink table, consider adding napkins, reusable cups, straws, and other basic serving utensils featuring marijuana leaves.

Set up an area where people can smoke and offer samples of strains like Zombie Kush, Jack the Ripper, Black Horror, Killer Queen, and Ghost Train Haze. Don’t forget to include lighters, ashtrays, rolling trays, papers, and everything else you’d need to roll up a joint or blunt for the party.

And just remember — a little fake blood goes a long way. Consider bloody handprints on mirrors and doors for that special touch.

Food + Drink

Halloween is all about trick or treating, so be sure to have plenty of treats. Include a mix of savory and sweet options, and always label anything that contains THC! The last thing you want is anyone over-indulging in a medicated chocolate fountain and having a truly scary night.

Get creative and make snacks like mummy jalapeno poppers by wrapping a classic cream-cheese stuffed jalapeno with strips of crescent dough before baking. Use peas for eyeballs. Find a pot leaf cookie cutter and make cookies, bars, or brownies. A little green food coloring is perfect for light-colored baked goods. If you’re making THC-infused snacks, be sure to offer non-medicated food as well. Don’t forget those labels!

As for drinks, be sure to fill the fridge with PBR High Seltzer. Every can is the perfect dose of 10 mg, so you and your guests can enjoy a drink and a smooth buzz but skip the next-day hangover. There are four flavors to choose from, so everyone can find something they like. To make the drink station extra spooky, set up a THC mocktail space.

Use ice cube trays shaped like pot leaves, and get some dark red juices like tart cherry, pomegranate, or cranberry. These are tasty additions to High Seltzer that give that blood-red glow. For an added twist, make fake eyeballs to float on top.

Music + Movies

Get started on your playlist so you can whip up whatever vibe you’re looking for. Might we suggest a killer dance tunes mix? Don’t forget classics like Thriller, I Put a Spell on You, and the Monster Mash. Then, add whatever makes you and your friends want to dance til dawn.

If there is a separate room or basement for movies, be sure it’s properly decorated. Make cozy spaces for your guests to huddle up and watch horror movie marathons. If you want to stick with friendlier laughs, go with stoner classics like How High, Pineapple Express, This is the End, or Dude Where’s My Car.

Games + Contests

What’s a party without a little friendly competition? Test your friends' talent with a pipe-making contest. Supply the guests with a piece of fruit like a banana or apple or oddball items like a carrot or corn cob and see who can make the most functional pipe.

Since it is Croptober, why not kill two birds with one stone (or get two birds stoned at one time) and have a trimming competition? Yep, that’s right. Bust out your freshly harvested crop and see who can trim the most perfectly manicured bud the fastest. The winner gets to keep their work.

Other activities include pumpkin carving, weed-themed board games, or, really, any game while stoned. There are so many fun things to do while high with your friends. And, of course, there must be a costume contest. The winner gets a 4 pack of Pabst High Seltzer!
